Another two shows to watch this Summer because of their seiyuu?

Another 2 Summer shows sampled, and what did I think of them? (Ueda Kana’s been doing ‘crazy’ roles two seasons in a row! Maybe she needs to lay off the Halo 3?)

LOL subs all right.
Telepathy Shoujo Ran: Three words… Or rather names – Ueda Kana, Katou Emiri, and SEKI TOMOKAZU (okay, so he’s only playing Ran’s brother, but we know from Cardcaptor Sakura that that’s a role he should be playing more often
). If you don’t know who Katou Emiri is, then you’ve obviously not been fapping to she’s Kagami in Lucky Star (Andohbtw, Tsukasa >>>>> Kagamin). Here she plays the titular character Ran, who… has latent psychic powers like the title suggests. Other cliches surrounding her include the childhood friend just waiting to be hooked up with her (I found it absolutely difficult to hear him, this guy needs to speak louder), quirky but loving family members, and the mysterious transfer student here to change her life. Yea, pretty straightforward setup. Decently executed. Yea, I’m just bursting with excitement to continue this show…
Kidding, I kinda enjoyed it honestly, but again, nothing uber compelling to see here (Glowing auras? *yawns* Sharp objects flying across the classroom? Slightly better). If I continue watching, it’ll be less about the mystery/powers and more for what looks like some nice seiyuu voicework character interaction. And to see if this will be the first show this year featuring Seki Tomokazu that I’ll actually finish (Huh? What do you mean he was in KimiAru and Himitsu? *feigns ignorance*) Comparatively, I’ve managed to finish every show I know featuring Ueda Kana so far this year (Shigofumi, Kurenai) so who knows what’s to become of Telepathy Shoujo Ran.
I was about to vandalize this one in Paint, but I got lazy and couldn’t think of anything besides “She is My Noble Master” to write -_-”
Ryouko’s Case File (The actual Japanese title I can’t be bother with because it’s even more of a bother than Mahou Tsukai blahblahblah): Is about a fun/flirty female detective who’s supposedly also kickass (as hinted in the OP and the end of the episode) in a supernatural/sci-fi (I dunno what random people bursting into dry corpses falls under anymore) mystery show that’ll otherwise be dead dull.
Watched the first ep raw and even if the serious talk portions didn’t fly above my head, I don’t think I’d be drawn in any further. The rest was just Ryouko dragging along and teasing her subordinate/sidekick a la Haruhi and Kyon Shinra did in KimiAru. (Lackey: “About the case…” Ryouko: *flashes swimsuit in front of Lackey* “Tell me, how do I look in this one…”; *Lackey looks away in embarassment* … etc. )
Also there was a potential crazy in there somewhere and a rival character (who looks like a more easily pissed off version of Misaki in Darker than Black) voiced by Kuwashima Houko (Shuurei in Saiunkoku, that girl in Clannad with After Story, etc). Ryouko’s voiced by Nabatame Hitomi, whom I can only recall currently as D-cup the dull girl who hooked up with the dull guy in School Rumble and I didn’t even notice.
(Edit: Oh wow, after checking, turns out Ryouko’s lackey is voiced by the same dude who did Hei in Darker than Black, Ren in NANA… and the dad in Chi’s Sweet Home XD)
So yea, another two shows I have no idea whether I should follow this season. Higher chances of checking out more of Telepathy Shoujo Ran since the next few eps are already out. Ryouko currently has the lowest priority on my list of shows this season that I might watch the 2nd episode since it was as compelling as err… Crystal Blaze. Yea, that’s it, I wasn’t really going to post this till I watched more Summer shows till I give up, but the internet connection is sucky and these are the only ones I could talk about currently.

You should never pick your anime based on what seiyuu are in them, or you’ll end up like me watching Boobnaut

@j1m0ne: Yea, if there’s ever a show to teach you that you can’t judge shows based on their cast lists, it’s Boobnaut all right… My friend was showing it to me and I had the most WTF look on my face throughout the episode… until we got to the cast list and my jaw dropped. (NOOOO, WHY NANA-CHAN, WHYYYY????)

I’ve never picked anime on voice acting…I’ve got a memory like a goldfish so I can never remember the names. Unfortunately, due to time, I don’t think I’ll be able to get to Ryoko’s Case Files.

Telepathy Shoujo Ran doesn’t interest me at all

I think the “voice” for Midori is rather fitting for her character though I couldn’t tell whether that’s how kansai ben sounds like. Indeed they fully utilize their Seiyuus for episode 3 with characters speaking more than they fight.LOL XD Hopefully future episodes will not be so “chatty”. I’ve been thinking of giving Ryouko’s Case File a try but I couldn’t find the time, might try over the weekend. (:

Me no like Telepathy Shoujo Ran… it seems so predictable.
I still haven’t seen Ryouko Case File but it didn’t look appealing to me much. Anyway, I’ll still give it a go.

There’s nothing wrong in giving a show a try base on the seiyuu. In fact the cast do weight in on whether I would try a show or not, it’s like trying a TV show because your favourite actor is in it. However, you should never follow a show if the show has no other appeal to you other than the seiyuu. That’s the difference.
I gave Dragonauts the first episode one go because of the cast, the story didn’t interest me so I dropped it promptly (see? I didn’t even reach the really bad boobs bit! lol). I also like Kugimiya Rie as much as the next Kugimiya Disease carrier, but I’ll never watch Zero no Tsukaima – again, one episode of the first season was enough for me. And then there’s Itazura no Kiss, Rosario+Vampire and Alison and Lilia which I didn’t even bother even if Nana-chan is in it.
This is how it should work, fellow seiyuu admirers.

Zero no Tsukaima for me, thanks to Tsundere Zerg Queen Rie Kugimiya, of course disregarding S2 and its terrible finale ending scene, which resulted in many sleepless nights for me in /rage mode.
World Destruction for Maaya Sakamoto? Anyone?

Telepathy Shoujo Ran is ok. I think the first few episodes were good about the importance of having friends and family that understand and accepts who or what you are… i hope the next few ones get better…

I dunno, seiyuu usually aren’t enough for me. I really like Kaori Nazuka but that’s a pretty flimsy reason to try to stomach Strike Witches.
