2008 Leftovers: Winter Comiket

I’m back! Oh wait, I’ve not actually gone anywhere, but I just felt like saying that after not posting for almost 2 months now -_-” Excuses this time around include a sudden case of shingles which shut me in my room (away from the internet OTL) for a week even though I didn’t feel the least bit sick, but the doctor didn’t want anyone else catching it… Needed the break to finish my paper/report/thesis thing to graduate anyways, but that took me an extra week anyhow To much manga and the TV in my room. And you wonder how the actual hikkikomoris do it?)
But all that’s over and done, as well as my university interview (First-year in Osaka U starts in April! …And I would be excited about it if not for the fact that I’ve been doing my preparatory course in Osaka U for the past year -_-” Wow, time flying) and finding a room to move out into next month *pats self on back, feels more adult already wants childhood back*. And now that I actually have time to spend online, could this possibly be the resurrection of this blog????
Doubt anyone’s holding their breath. Anywhos, while I possibly muse about what to randomly post when I randomly want to, I’ll be randomly uploading ‘leftovers’ (post material, that is) from last year that never made it on this blog because I was a lazy ass (and still am). First up: Winter Comiket 2008!
Prerequisite flow of pics after wall of useless text:

If memory serves me right, this be my first ever picture of a cosplayer ever (Medicine Seller dude from Mononoke and… I dunno). Took me longer than I should’ve to actually muster the supposed courage it took to ask for permission to do so out loud (not only do I have the ability to survive cooped up in my room for ages as a hikikomori does, I have about as much social capability as one). But the really apparent attention to detail in the costume finally got me to blurt out ”写真撮ってもいいですか。。。” (Moonspeak for “May your graciousness grant my unworthy camera and photography skills the blessing of your pose to be forever plastered on some forgotten panel in the interwebs for all little who pass through it to see“) and then the ball started rolling…

Apologies to this Kuroshitsuji troupe for taking the pic a bit too prematurely as exhibited by Sebastian’s… un-Sebastian-ness on the left -_-” (In the end I was still shy to ask for retakes even if the picture didn’t come out like I expected)

Learnt my lesson with the second troupe. This group was easier to spot with flaming red Grell’s presence.

A little late, but an offering still to a certain someone currently down under. (ノゝ∀・)~キラ☆
(Not sure if the costume was hand made, or was one of the Ranka ones that were being sold just about everywhere in a certain electrical goods district in Tokyo…)

Sadly no junk in sight ;(

Wicked Witch C.C. and pre-blood-stained (unfortunately) Euphie. I fail for not getting one of the random Zero(s?) walking around. (No Buttcrack-zaku in sight as far as I remember and I would… *shudders*)

One of the friends in my group was the eager ass Energizer Rabbit jumping from cosplayer to cosplayer from the get go. Couldn’t match up to his enthusiasm nor his Gintama-fan-ism (note to self: stop making up words) but was thrilled myself to get this shot nontheless

Keitai Sousakan 7 WTF/4TW ? Prerequisite photo of walking hunk of cardboard. (Awesome cosplay, rather lame show imho)

And finally, my total favourite of the day – an actual family of Pokemon cosplayers! Never mind the notion of Jesse & James (or whatever their names are in Japanese, I dunno) getting married and having a totally adorable baby Meowth (who didn’t want to look at me
)and Ash/Satoshi as children is beyond mind-boggling to the part of my mind that doesn’t usually process things such as cosplay – this was just freakin CUTE!!!!

Ahem. And that concludes today’s leftover post from 2008. What? That was just random cosplay footage (that wasn’t even photographed well), where’s the event coverage you say? Err, sorry, you’ll have to ask someone who actually went all the way to do something other than take random cosplay pictures, like say shop. I just went for the random experience of jostling with fellow otaku-kind in Odaiba ’s Big Sight since I didn’t do so when I was in Tokyo during the summer. Besides, the crowds were killer as expected and I’d rather browse for my Abe X Mihashi doujins in a quieter environme – Oh, did I just type that out?
Ahem ahem. Until my next leftover post then.

Sorry about the shingles but congrats on passing and getting into Osaka U! By the time you’re finished, you’ll be fluent in kansai-ben, right?

Better late than never!
And congrats! Can we call you Osaka-san now?

@Everyone: Thanks!
@Caitlin: ありえへん、ありえへん(???) Eh… it’ll be a wonder if I’ll ever speak in kansai-ben ever. I sound totally fake and tacky whenever I try.
@Zyl: I’ll probably personify her to a tee in lectures.
@C.I: Err, I hear Odaiba’s pretty at night too, but camp overnight…
@Hynavian: Guess they “blasted off again”? (*groans*) Pokemon love is still amazingly going strong here though, but I don’t catch the weekly broadcasts since I can’t get used to the Japanese voices XD
