Guess what I was doing in Nagoya again yesterday :P

I was absolutely thrilled (actually sorta went berserk would be a better description, but anyways) when it was announced last year that Mizuki Nana’s latest live tour would be stopping in jolly old Osaka (“just a 250yen bus ride and a 390yen subway ride away too!” the economist in me said). I was equally mortified when I tried calling the number to purchase tickets on the opening day for ticket sales and got the dreaded (but really quite expected) on hold tone (“NOEEESSSSSS!!!!!”). In the end, tickets were sold out in much less than an hour and I got zero ORZ

Spent a lot of my hols moping about my fail attempt, which, fail enough as it was, I should’ve been spending on Yahoo Auction or something trying to attempt to snag tickets – which I eventually did try, but slow as I was, it was kind of too late for the Osaka shows (the weekend before last) T_T Fortunately, I still had a Seishun 18 ticket day leftover from my previous travels which allowed me unlimited travel for a day on all local JR lines, so hauling my ass 3 hours away to Nagoya and another back in time for classes wasn’t out of the question. Bidding for front row seats though, was, so in the end I settled for a 2nd floor seat to the side, but on the flip side I bought it at only 4,100yen (original price was 6,000) – which really speaks for the state of the seat. Let’s just say I got what I paid for.

Nana-chan still looking good – even if it’s just a poster in a crappy handphone pic

tl;dr, How was the actual concert you say? Err, no surprise, it was show

but that kind of goes without saying when it comes to Nana-chan :P Absolutely loved the energy our wonderful songstress put out throughout the entire show (just under 3 hours) with the help of her band (the Cherry Boys *thumbs up!!!*) and dancers Cherry Boyz, whilst entertaining the audience with her amusing banter – and of course her winwinwin (yea, running out of adjectives -_-”) performances.

Notes on the show (I suppose you should avoid these if you’re planning to attend the Budoukan shows this weekend?:

  • Predictably enough, the theme for LIVE FEVER was 70s Disco. Stage was set with glaring disco ball and Nana-chan ’s first number had her dancing around with fluorescent orange gloves that I still see moving before my eyes XD – no prize for guessing what the song of the day was show
  • All 3 Nanoha OP songs were sung (Secret Ambition is still my favourite though that season sucked :P Nana recommends JAM Project’s cover of Eternal Blaze – did she mean this one? Awesome stuff XD). Oh wait, all 4. Never really liked Massive Wonders -_-”
  • Also all 3 songs from the Trickster single. Have come to love Trinity Cross more than Trickster itself, which sounded rather forced live.
  • From her current upcoming single, Shin Ai and that Gozen Reiji no Baby Doll song. Shin Ai was heavenly even without a live harp – the Cherry Boys gave it a rock edge. Beautiful *teary eyed*
  • Other non-recent/non-anime-related songs (still bloody rocked my socks) sung in no particular order and just the ones I can recall: Crystal Letter, Chronicle of Sky, Orchestral Fantasia, POWER GATE, Astrogation, Zankou no Gaia, Super Generation, …
  • Outfits: Not too dodgy and thankfully nothing politically incorrect this time round (or I could just be ignorant and biased). Okay, I could be all Queer Eye for the Straight Guy about her fluorescent gloves and this wedding dress-ish outfit she had, but I loved the black dress she was rocking out Trickster in, and the large flowy one (which everyone in the audiencwas insisting she twirl in for us XD She eventually did, but we had to do it first. Kinda embarrassing turning around to find that the row behind youaren’t the same kind of sports OTL) was good (in a costumey kind of way)
  • Trivia: Nana talked about her role in White Album and even she thinks that Ogata Rina is one sly bitch (やるじゃないか??!!) when she slipped Toya the note in episode 2. Speaking of which, she was personally asked to write the note by the show’s staff, so that’s Nana-chan’s actual writing we have here (in the screenshot I stole from usagijen =P)! (*clicks and saves* XD)

  • Nothing much about Ogata Rina in Rideback. But apparently Paku Romi asked (or rather commanded) Nana to her new apartment – to help her clean up after moving in -_-”
  • On my favourite subject – Food :D : Nana blabbed about how she gorged herself on Nagoya’s specialty chicken wings after being too busy to snag okonomiyaki in Osaka the week before – apparently she thought it wasn’t a good idea for ’someone her age’ (jokes about joining the ranks of “Kikuko-neesan” *gasps*). Also she was craving for a Nagoya specialty dessert her staff found out about – you can see it on her latest blog post and I am CRAVING IT right now.
  • Other things: Nana hopes that we all watch White Album and buy her Shin Ai single being released on her birthday (21st, this week!). Though it’s been her second day in Nagoya, she wished she could stay longer (a week?? I wish she stayed longer in Osaka T_T)

Overall, have no complaints (even if my seat was so much to the side that I hardly got to see Nana-chan as she waved us goodbye from our side of the stage at the end), certainly one hell of the best Sundays I’ve spent this new year :D
