YOU CARE, YOU ACTUALLY CARE!!!
So I’ve not posted in who knows how long. *Points fingers at all the usual suspects – yes you, studies, all you can eat outings, dessert, life* *Bows in apology to everyone who’s been kind enough to question my well being, then Points fingers at all the usual suspects – yes you, studies, all you can eat outings, dessert, life* Well, that and the wireless network over here being upgraded which just resulted in me spending about a week or two internet-less (*gasps!* okay, I could still use the internet for even more restricted hours at uni after class during the period)
And what better way to top the mountain of excuses off that with the ever dreaded classic – the ‘personal problem‘ (*roll of thunder*). Details will be skipped, less said about things the better they say (then why blog?)
Important thing is, I’m back (for the meantime, and for how long, I dunno), so to make up for all the time I haven’ been typing away on this dashboard, here’s more than a couple of words that you may somehow feel the need to read (or just skip through to see if I’m watching he same things as you are -_-”) on the shows on my watchlist this season. (Be warned of spoilers and the possible reflection of my previously unstable state of mind, which I’m now only assuming to be fine…)
And about time too -_-”
Early on I watched Skip Beat superficially because I wanted some shoujo on my plate as usual (and Hakushaku to Yousei just didn’t work, sorry Nana-chan >.<) and listening to Inoue Marina in a lead female role once more recalls my days of earnest Toshokan Sensou fan-blubbering XD.
Back then, there was the nagging thought in the back of my mind that told me that other than that, there wasn’t much to actually rave about the show. And painfully honest to say, relating to Kyoko’s plight – minus the wonders of shoujo magic that makes dreams of romance, stardom and most importantly revenge on those who’ve wronged you come true, albeit with a good measure of hard work, determination, and silly unrealistic drama tossed in the mix – wasn’t making my watching experience any way enjoyable.
Fortunately, 7 episodes in, and I start to see the potential shine within the show that was perhaps once obscured by the dark clouds of my own pessimism. Or really I was starting to feel pleased for Kyoko for doing something right for herself on what will undoubtedly be a long and rocky road to revenge her happy ending(?)
Speaking of revenge…
ef – a tale of melodies takes a much darker approach to the theme. A short while back and I would’ve found the notion of wreaking psychological havoc on the person you love for the sake of revenge (partly anyways) to be all sorts of tall orders only acceptable in realm of the dramatic that ef excels in. Now, I’m thinking damn, if only could pull something like that off myself! (Well, if only for the dramatic effect achieved on the poor victim, I’d be beyond masochistic to actually wish Yuuko’s plight upon myself…)
Nodame Cantabile. Is probably my favourite series this season. I don’t care that it’s not living up to the awesomeness of the source material (having not read the manga nor watched the drama. Be the gazillionth person to tell me what I’m missing) There’s an enviable quality about the seemingly dysfunctional Chiaki X Nodame dynamic, it’s a wonder how their relationship works despite they’re seldom ever being on the same page. Perhaps it benefits them that instead of having too much free time on their hands to mope about this supposedly detrimental fact, they have their individual goals to pursue, that they’re willing to put all of themselves into (when they’re not jumping at each others’ throats on the streets of Paris XD). (If only I could muster up a similar passion for blogging)
It’s also funny how I totally missed mentioning Junjou Romantica 2 in my previous post – under shows that I am following this season. My love-hate relationship with the first season continues on with this installment - Romantica is once again as unrealistic idealitic as ever, Egoist brings the emo, and once more I find myself waiting for Terrorist (with the sneaking feeling it’s just going to disappoint me again once I see Miyagi in non-teasing mode). Yet perhaps reading this post has put me on a less cynical position in viewing this show – though the crazy level of strawberries absurdity early on in the Romantica arc had my eyebrows to the roof, surprisingly the episode of Egoist covering Nowaki’s insecurities did provide something I could acknowledge relating to to a certain extent – once the mushy delusions and obliatory buttsecks gets taken out of the picture anyways.
On the comedy front (because I can always use a good laugh), like a good portion of bloggers I see, I’m giving Kannagi the thumbs up this season. If I had to provide a reason you’ve probably not already read somewhere else, I just have to say it gives me some sort of sadistic pleasure listening to Hanazawa Kana as Zange, right after her role as in Mahou Tsukai blahblahblah last season – it’s as if (spoilers for aforementioned shows) show
Meanwhile Kemeko DX has fallen into the “yea I know it’s wacky and hence hilarious in theory” category, but beyond cracking up a little listening to Kemeko’s voice and smirking a little at the lyrics of the OP/ED, crazy shrine maiden and co. win this one =P
And finally…
Dark humour, murder mysteries, Sakamoto Maaya, Daisuke Ono and CAKE??? What more can I ask for in a show? XD
(In all honesty, what Kuroshitsuji offers in entertainment value comes from all over the place, one moment I laugh, the next I just soak in the macabre atmosphere and setting when the story gets serious, but really I’m just waiting till Sebastian whips up something yummy on screen – and that has nothing to do with his relationship with Ciel *coughs*)
Lastly, major apologies for dropping off the face of the blogosphere sans explanation all this while, and thanks to those who have been kind enough to prod me to check if I still have a pulse =P Sad to say, it’ll be hard to expect much more from me for the coming days what wih major university deciding examinations next week, though really, I’d attribute it more towards my failure to getting back into the blogging groove – it’s taken me four days to type up to this line ORZ
(And here’s wishing all fellow bloggers the best of luck avoiding sudden hiatus disease ;P )

Kuroshitsuji wasnt that bad. Except for some repetitive episodes and mistakenly yaoi scenes. Wait.. what?

OMG where have you been little furry panda, we’ve all missed you! And yes, you are missing out by not watching the Nodame drama – it’s only about a million times better than the anime.
Hope you get over the sudden hiatus disease & ‘personal problems’ soon. And best of luck with the exams!

god i miss going to this cookie BG blog of yours ^^
i got tired of waiting for a story in Kuroshitsuji to pop up and just dropped it. It doesn’t even have that much cake pr0n in the last couple of episodes to compensate ;A;

As much I love Skip Beat, I think it suffers from some overhype.
As for Nodame Cantabile, I’m hesitant to watch it since I am attached to much to the source material. I however, would like more nodame drama episodes. The anime just can’t get the orchestra scenes as exciting =(

You live! Sorry to hear about all the mishaps going on…if it’s a living in Japan thing, you’re always free to email me. ^_^

@Kairu Ishimaru: You speak of it as if it’s over/you’ve already dropped it though
@j1m0ne: Thanks! Though if I start watching the drama now, I’ll probably won’t be stud- I mean blogging again for a while… (I seem to have lost the ability to juggle this blogging thing with everything else anymore -_-”)
@biankita: God, I miss reading about your baking endeavours XD Yea, Kuroshitsuji isn’t very outstanding in the story department, but the whole sombre Victorian(?) English atmosphere I totally dig for some reason (dessert notwithstanding
)
@shirokiryuu: I suppose it’s the fans of the Skip Beat manga who’re just excited about what they suppose is coming which I’m totally in the dark about. As for Nodame, I don’t think I ever felt ‘excited’ during any of the orchestra scenes, so I guess that’s part of what I’m missing from the drama?
@Caitlin: Hey, thanks, though I believe the living in Japan thing will only take its toll next year when I move out and have to find my own lodgings and brave Japanes university life… Oh crap, I’m freaking myself out again >.<

Putting my opinions on the anime shows aside, I missed you.

Glad to see you back!! Though I think I’ve been neglecting watching more than you, lol.
ROW ROW FIGHT THE UNI EXAMS (and other hurdles you have atm)!!

Good luck on everything and stay fierce!

Great to see you back (I’M THE ONLY ONE WHO TRULY CARES). Kemeko’s just not doing it for me anyone, but I love the versatility of the Bot’s voice actress. Try Macademi for comedy this season. Must catch up with FABULOUSHITSUJI.

Welcome back Issa-sa
And yeah, I need help getting off a hiatus disease.

You don’t even come onto MSN that much anymore ):
Yes, I also overlooked what the live action version of Nodame had offered and instead focus on what the anime decided to give us, and it isn’t as bad as some people are trying to imply.
