So what could be duller than my last post on Akihabara/Otome Road?

Hopefully not this one. (Sorry for the LONGGGGGG delay… I just realized that all this happened more than a month ago -_-”)

Continuing from my previous post (after a much too long delay, which I do apologize for. I’ll let you pick from the stock excuses of a typical pre-university student), after a rather surprisingly(?) quiet morning in Akihabara, I decided to go ahead and explore everywhere else I could think off the top of my head that I probably should go explore while I was still in Tokyo, since who knows when I’d decide to take another 8 hour train ride just to go there (yea, I’m too cheap to ride a Shinkansen -_-”).

First stop, Tokyo Tower.

Boring prologue to first stop: On the way to Tokyo Tower, had to pass Zojoji (had to Google this one since my memory obviously does not work past one month), which would have been interesting if it wasn’t under renovation/maintenance at the time. Well it broke the monotony of the walk at least.

So like, tah-dah, feel the majesty of Tokyo Tower on a gloomy cloudy day… (And I was wondering why I wasn’t feeling my ‘bright and cheerful’ self throughout the trip… minus the lethargy and all) Can you just feel the CLAMP vibes??? I felt like some sort of tower otaku at that moment, after visiting the Nagoya TV tower and all.

Doggy statues at the foot of the tower.

Random pics from the tower. Initially I’d refer to the signs around the observatory that stated where exactly we were facing, so that when I took a shot I’d think “Okay, so that over there is Harajuku/Shibuya/Shinjuku/where Mt Fuji would be if it wasn’t so bloody cloudy/etc.” But now I’m staring at most of my pics and having not much a clue of what they’re supposed to be besides all being Tokyo. *shrugs*

Okay, this one is Zojoji down there. =P It’s rather ’sad’ that that golf course and all them other buildings have to crammed around a historic site like that.

That’s the Sunshine Rainbow Bridge (I dunno why I had it as Sunshine in my head -_-”). Part of my short-lived “Look out for Tokyo landmarks that CLAMP destroyed in X” game I was ‘playing’ to entertain myself.

(I wish I still had a screenshot of what transpired here in X…)

Spot the Diet Building…

Whoever thought of installing glass floors in tall monuments must have some wicked sense of humour…

Instead of taking the elevator down, I chose to use the staircase to relive a Tokyo Marble Chocolate
moment
. I then realized that the main observatory I was just in wasn’t as high up as I thought (there’s a ’special’ one that’s higher up and requires another ticket). Still, with the wind blowing and all (the central staircase is all caged in, so it still feels relatively safe), it really made it hard to believe that anyone would want to go climb those railings to save an exotic pet even in anime -_-”

Next… Tokyo University

…’s Komaba campus. This was the one I was lead to when I asked someone at the train station how to get to the university. Not exactly the one they featured in Love Hina/Death Note if I’m not mistaken, yet I’ve recently learnt that this is the campus that all first-year students in Tokyo U would come to study in regardless of their major.

This was after lunch, and I was sure that Akihabara would’ve come back to life by then, but I thought I might as well stop by somehwere else since I had really too much time on my hands for the day. Hence the next stop on the good old Yamanote line brought me to…

Harajuku station.

Harajuku’s a rather interesting place to people watch and shop (not that I did much of either, but that’s how the place registered in my mind as). On one hand there’s the whole trendy youthful modern (what other adjectives can I slap onto this sentence?) vibe…

*ahem*

… but just across the street (on the side of the JR station), you find an entrance into a woody part of the area… that eventually leads to the Meiji Jingu Shrine.

As much as it was still a very touristy spot, it did feel like a good break from the hustle and bustle of the big city parts of the big city while walking to the place (though they were renovating parts of the path, which made it a wee bit too long a walk to and fro for my tired old feet…). Made a prayer for my camera’s battery to last for the rest of the day (it didn’t, but I had my fair share of photos by then *phew*) before… My return to Akihabara!

Alas, that be yet another post (which really, isn’t as dull as the last one. I think). For those of you who still stop by here, thank you, and may your prayers that I one day finish this outdated series of posts and move on to all these new Fall Season shows be answered…
