For what it’s worth, I’ve always felt like is someone asked me, ‘what is the greatest anime ever’ I’d have to answer Martian Successor Nadesico. It truly has everything that makes anime special as a mode of storytelling for me.

Ruri: I’d have to say this is one of the more tactless jabs at the Evangelion movies I’ve ever seen.

Evangelion jabs are the bread and butter (or is it just the icing) of Nadesico as I recall…

The events of the game that set the movie up are summarised humourously here, if you're interested. It might make the movie's beginning slightly less jarring.

I watched Nadesico in its entirety shortly after watching Evangelion for the first time, and it was really exactly what I needed (even if the dub featured yet another dose of Spike Spencer urrrrgh). It’s so tongue-in-cheek, very clever, and a ton of fun if you can manage to laugh at your robot-loving self. And Gai… Gai is awesome.

As far as the movie… I was totally confused, but from what I hear there was some other stuff that was never released over here (US) that sort of bridges the gap between the series and the movies, but I saw only what was readily available and all I could think was WTF. Regardless of story, the tone and style is far more serious and I don’t really think it works as well.

…Anyway, this may seem to be off-topicy but…
OMG!!! The new season of America’s Next Top Model will start on September 3!!! They all seem to look VERY ‘unique’ this time (And no offense but Tyra looks fug ~~as always~~ in the promo…) And I have my early faves already ^_^
