I wonder if I can convince blissmo to watch this one…

I’m still trying to finish/catch up to episode 12 of all them shows I decided to follow for Spring, and already Summer is here to blaze the sweat out of me/with a fresh new stock of shows to sample. Besides the 2 “sweet” titles I’ve mentioned before, here’s two more series that pass the first episode “anything goes unless it has something to do with pokemon crossed with boobs or pantless lolis!” test.

Snow?? In my Summer anime??? Thank you Sora!

Mahou Tsukai no Taisetsu na Koto: Natsu no Sora (Damn thats one long name, I think I’ll stick to Someday’s Dreamers: Summer Skies or just Someday’s Dreamers 2) I originally intended to check out and watch since I kinda dug the atmosphere of the first series… Is what I like to say, only I’ve not touched said first series (does look like something I’d watch though). Instead, I only have shallow reasons like j1m0ne pointing out that the sexy voice of Doujou Maeno Tomoaki is voicing some character in it, as well as Marina Inoue… which totally means ‘aural fantasy of Doujou X Iku start!’

But somehow, I totally forgot about that fact when I turned on the first episode. Long story short, I really liked it despite realizing full well that not much went on in it (maybe the part of me that’s always wanted to go to Hokkaido kicked in :P ) That and the ‘lazy’ kick back feel of the episode plus the ‘creative use of backgrounds’ – since I can’t bother to think of a new way to describe them (I saw veggies! Something the Chocolate Police seem to be lacking -_-”).

Was rather disappointed that only the kitchen was in ‘3D glory’ and not the foodies…

Also liked how ‘magic’ was brought up so casually in all their conversations without any actual fuss or hints of “THIS IS AN IMPORTANT PLOT POINT!” thrown in. Like Sora’s mom going “Sora, you’ve been accepted to the magic school in Tokyo!” as if it was the most natural thing in the world. If it was any other show I’d half expect Sora monologuing “yes, in this world plagued with demons/youkai/whatever, it is my destiny to use magic/drive a giant mecha to save it!”

Anyways, the next episode sees Sora going to Tokyo, and now that I’ve remembered, I’m looking forward to hearing Doujou again :P *sticks this show into watchlist immediately*

Indeed it is!

Hidamari Sketch x365 was on my Summer Watchlist by default already :P Long story short I <3 Hidamari Sketch in all its SHAFT-iness, and if that didn’t go well with you the first season, then it won’t go well with you now. Otherwise, everything you loved about the first season is back here in x365 (except Mebae Drive T_T Not that the new ED is bad – it’s by Marble again. The new OP is so upbeat and catchy and totally blows that new S.A. ED in the “songs that show that Goto Yuko should only sing when not alone” department). Of course “newcomers” are more than welcome in Hidamari Sou, the first episode of x365 basically took place before the first season did, and did a great job (re)introducing our 4 main characters who seem to have a lot to talk about that doesn’t involve choco-coronets ;P

Something I (re)realized I enjoy from this series: the obligatory Yuuno bathtub scenes. (ZOMG Yunnochi nekkid!) Seriously, they couldn’t choose a better way to end a Hidamari episode, you can just feel the soothing vibes as Yuuno just chills in her tub (especially love it whenever she drops in a fizz ball to give the bathtub experience that extra something =P) and tells herself “Ah, what a fun episode day that was…” Makes me feel like having a good soak myself, though it would help if I actually had a tub myself (and in this weather, walking to the ‘nearest’ public bath means walking back all sweaty and would be pretty pointless -_-”)

Originally, this post was to feature these 2 series along with Antique Bakery as the sort of ‘default’ 3 shows I’ll be watching this summer i.e. the 3 shows I’ll probably continue watching regardless of everything else (every other series I’ve yet to sample are still question marks), but that kind of felt like I was ripping off one of psgels posts :P Well I’ll continue taking a look at the rest of the season’s offerings and see what catches my eye.
