I should have written something unwitty like “SHAFT WAS NOT HERE” on the board…

So in my last worthless post (@blissmo: Pfft, don’t get ahead of yourself, I was actually ripping-off Taiyaki -and everyone else who has one- when I put up that dasaku blogroll =P And that Doraemon image I posted ISN’T how the characters actually look like you know!), I let you all guess 2 random movies and this contraption we have in class that neither I nor my classmates from a whole bunch of other countries have ever seen before. Well here’s a ‘wider perspective’ for the said contraption which shows where exactly you’d find it in the classroom – for those who still don’t know what it is, is that any more helpful? :P

As for the movies, I’m actually quite surprised that some actually managed to figure it out – so congratulations to Asuka and Author, as promised you get ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for correctly identifying… show

Yes, I know, WTF right? Though Author had the edge of actually watching the movie before (three quarters of it, apparently? I totally understand why you booted out :P ). I’ll just quote his comment to save myself from explaining the ludicrousness of the movie

Coincidentially, I and Ana-sempai watched about 3/4 of the Shin-chan movie in hotel. I’ve never seen anything from the franchise before, but this was about an alien missile latching on the family pet’s hind quarter. We gave up when it was, probably, about to end, with the family going to rescue the the dog from the rocket. Awful stuff, really, but funny in places.

Well, since this is a Crayon Shin-chan movie we’re talking about, it’s no surprise that it turned out the way it did – absolutely senseless ‘fun’ (though I know many would be turned off immediately by the art and Shin-chan’s signature lecherous behaviour XD). For those not familiar with the franchise… Well, I’m one of you really. I never really got into Shin-chan because I was too into Doraemon when I was young I guess =P

Asuka though, you must have some really sharp eyes to be able to recognize the signature distorted artstyle from my lousy ’screenshot’ – that was my intention with that hint, but it failed miserably OTL – so bravo!

The second movie should be infinitely easier to recognize (if you’re the right type of otaku), but I’ll admit that if I was posed with the question before that day, I wouldn’t know the answer myself either :P

Ez got this one right. I would have accepted Mobile Suit Gundam (insert whatever here) since I’m a total Gundam n00b (I recognized the name Amuro and that guy with the mask since they’re popular anime reference points methinks – the giant robot of course gives it completely away :P ).

Apparently this was part of a trilogy of movies that launched the giant robot franchise to fame back in 1981 or something (tempted to say:“Holy shit, I wasn’t even born then!!!”, but that shouldn’t be an excuse for not knowing the anime climate back then?) based on the TV series that was released like 2 years before. But I suppose this would be Gundam in its original form – aka NO PRETTY BOYS (lol). We didn’t get to finish the movie due to lack of time, plus it would’ve been hell difficult for us to keep track of what was going on if our teacher didn’t explain to us about why “Site 7 is attacking Site 3″ and why the appeal of the movie back then could be attributed to how “it’s not clear cut who the bad guys and good guys are” (and I always thought you could tell by their hair colour…) So much for Japanese Conversation class, felt more like “Anime History” for me =P

Now, for the moment everyone’s been waiting for… WHAT IS THIS TRIANGLE THE MYSTERIOUS GREEN CONTRAPTION FOR???

show

And that concludes my crack quota for the week =P (I’ll probably be exceeding it later anyways)
