What I was “Forced” to Watch (In Class) This Week

(jp is just part of the long list of bloggers I plan to rip off)
If you can tell where the scene above is from, I have absolutely nothing to say… Except that you’ve obviously watched this before =P
Today for Japanese Culture class, our teacher let us watch a movie (of his choice, since none of us could decide on a completely moonspeak movie ourselves) for our ‘outstanding’ achievement in last week’s quiz (Basically, we were provided a map of Japan, and had to name every single one of the 47 prefectures in kanji. Thanks to some rushed ‘reviewing’ the night before, I managed to only screw up Shiga-ken (滋賀県) – which should be embarrassing since we just visited the place a while ago, but it was really because I missed a dot in the kanji OTL- and Tottori (鳥取県 – I wrote it as 取鳥 instead since both characters can be read as ‘tori’ – OTL again). Sensei was really very lenient on us since he said he’d only show us a movie if EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US got perfect scores, but since we’re not the S.A., only a handful managed that feat.
But enough of my irrelevant rambling, since I don’t actually have anything much to say about the crack movie we watched, I’ll let you all guess what exactly we got to watch
Clues:
- Yes, it’s an anime movie.
- The fact that this was Japanese Culture class has no bearing whatsoever on it, besides perhaps, that this was definitely mainstream stuff.
- Not Ghibli nor has anything to do with Shinkai Makoto (I think. I’d be VERY surprised if I was wrong though)
- I’ve just checked, it came out last year. And no, I haven’t updated my MAL just yet
- You have the first ’screenshot’ above and this one below (had to take them as discreetly as I could, would be my excuse for their cruddiness
) to help.
Of course, if you haven’t watched this movie, I seriously doubt they’d help at all =P The character designs in this image might’ve have been a decent hint – if it didn’t turn out so blur
Anyone who manages to guess this right gets… You guessed it, nothing (what else do you expect from Incredible Nothing! XD) Not even a boost to your ego/e-p3n0r – in fact the fact that you knew would probably be a blow to that instead XD
Fine, since I’m such a good sport, here’s the biggest hint:show
;P
Now for more fun, here’s another show/movie to guess! (what are the odds that we get to watch anime movies for two classes back to back – okay considering that our Japanese Conversation teacher showed us Doraemon last week, maybe slightly higher than I imagined – and be thankful I’m sparing you from another random tl;dr nostalgia post since I’m not as familiar with these 2 franchises than I am with the blue cat robot
) Only this one will probably be a walk in the park for some of you (if you’re still reading), so only visual clues this time:
Yes, I know my phone camera sucks.
You’ll either recognize that face immediately or not at all, him being the main character of the movie. But in case that was too obscure an angle (purposely chosen ;P), here’s a more revealing one: show
Now, if you still don’t know where it’s from, you at least can guess the genre XD. 2 more pics that will either give it totally away or prove that you’ve been living comfortably under a space rock.
I’m guessing that you either know exactly what this movie was by now, if not, you definitely know the franchise =P Or I could just be catering to the wrong fanbase altogether…
Omake:
Okay here’s one thing I’ve wanted to post for a while to see how many people know (or can guess) what it is, because we certainly didn’t have them in Malaysia (not that I know off). Clues: It’s not a toaster
, we have one in every classroom in our building, and though I purposely didn’t make its exact position in the classroom clear -it should be discernible to some extent from the picture – that position itself would be a good hint… Happy guessing! XD

First guess, nothing. Although that woman (its a woman right? O_O) looks as if shes riding on a thing (whats that? A horse?) with wings. I’m obviously not very familiar with the series. >_<
My second guess was right, thats Amuro for you.
As for that box… National is an air conditioner brand right? And gee, what else do we totally not need in sweltering hot Malaysia? I’d put my money on that being a heater.
Also, in all your classes? Where are you living now?

DAMN IT!
I don’t know any of the films and the clues DID NOT help one bit!
This is not fair
CHEAT! CHEAT!! CHEAT!!!
And no prize? OH lols, what a rip-off
June 10, 2008 @ 7:18 pm
I know what it is but I won’t say.

@Ez: Yea it’s a woman riding a winged horse (*thinks yea, SHOULD be, though my brain must’ve been shut off about there), but really that’s not going to get you anywhere XD Sorry to say but unless you’re psychic or have watched the movie, I seriously doubt there’s any way you can guess unless you try trawling MAL…
You got Amuro right, though you’re totally off with the contraption (I said I’ve never seen it in M’sia, not that it’s not NEEDED, cos it’s ’sort of’ useful)
I’m currently somewhere in one of the 3 campuses of Osaka University. Care to guess which? XD
@blissmo: WAKAKAKAKAKA Yea, I’m a rip-off (Welcome to Incredible Nothing!)
@Caitlin: Well if there was one reader who’d know, it’d be you Caitlin ;D
June 10, 2008 @ 10:18 pm
Actually, I have no idea. But since it’s neither by the Big M or Makoto Shinkai, the only other person I know who’s famous in this field would be Satoshi Kon. Er, Paprika? Not that I’ve watched it P:
@Caitlin
Spoilers at welcomed here =D

Is the first movie the Crayon Shin-chan movie that came out last year? I haven’t watched it, but it’s my best guess based on the hint you gave (and the “interesting” art style from the screencap).
As for the omake, is it a pencil sharpener or a chalk dust collector? You can tell that I’m running out of ideas…
June 11, 2008 @ 1:14 am
My guess on the contraption is that it’s a paper shredder. Or maybe a de-humidifier.
June 11, 2008 @ 2:55 am
i actually have no idea what either of those are… ?o_O
June 11, 2008 @ 2:32 pm
Coincidentially, I and Ana-sempai watched about 3/4 of the Shin-chan movie in hotel. I’ve never seen anything from the franchize before, but this was about an alien missile latching on the family pet’s hind quarter. We gave up when it was, probably, about to end, with the family going to rescue the the dog from the rocket. Awful stuff, really, but funny in places.

Oh lol
I just realized that you made a Dasaku.net blogroll thing
Suddenly I don’t feel so special any more
