So apparently, Ookiku Furikabutte (OoFuri) has been licensed. Apparently, I should be happy about this because, well, if you happen to not know (i.e. you’ve never read his blog in its early days back at blogspot), I happen to really really like OoFuri. Indeed I am happy for all the potential buyers of the official DVDs and the new fans this move will make when it’s released in the States (hence why I should be happy, but in the end it doesn’t really concern me whose on the other side of the planet -_-”) as “BIG WINDUP!”

Say what?

When I first read the title of CalAggie’s post I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of doubtful names they could possibly come up with to better market Ookiku Furikabutte (which would probably confuse the hell out of unknowing western audiences) to the masses. I just assumed it’d be something literal like “Swing Big!” Oh wait, sorry, that was what I always thought “振りかぶってFurikabutte” meant, when it really means “to hold /raise [a thing] high above one’s head” (like when you’re pitching), according to my dictionary. (Well, like duh, that makes much more sense since the show is about Mihashi the ace pitcher of the team -_-”)

Another term for it seems to be “Windup“, hence this new title, but me still being a complete baseball n00b even after 26 episodes of OoFuri, I never knew this OTL Now I find out that the title could’ve been literally translated to “Take a big windup“, which well, sounds worse, so the purpose of this post to rant about how WTF “Big Windup!” sounds is kinda moot now -_-” So I’ll just move on to other things.

(And for the record, since I never got to making that “XXX reasons to watch OoFuri that does NOT involve the BL-pairings that only exist in your mind” post, I’ll just state off-hand that OoFuri is one awesome series that even the baseball-unsavvy like myself can get into, despite the in-game technicalities involved, there’s still a lot it offers in terms of great characters, strong heart, and awesome spirit (and all the other win things you’re supposed to find in a great sports title). Now, I need to watch this DVD event. And continue grumbling that Yonaga Tsubasa and Shimono Hiro need to be in a better show that Shit. A.)

Other news I’m ripping off other people’s blogs:

BEST OP THIS SEASON has been released. Okay your mileage may vary, but DOES’ Donten has been my personal favourite OP song this year staring from the time I consciously turned on the TV waiting to be confused by the first time I’d try watching Gintama without subs, and was blown away by the new song so much that I couldn’t care so much that I couldn’t understand the episode afterwards :P When they played the full version of the song a few episodes back at the end of the SRS BSNSS Shinsengumi arc though I was drooling from my ears (Okay, I need better expressions -_-”). (I am SO going to ruin this song at karaoke this weekend XD)

Finally (short excuse of a post since I’m hungry now), it seems that they’re revamping the Japanese Language Proficiency Test system, something all future applicants should take note of. Well I should take note of it too, since I’m studying the language now, but the news really just reminds me that I have a big test on grammar and sentence patterns tomorrow (and kanji the day after OTL) and I shouldn’t even be here blogging right now -_-” I have this feeling that despite the trouble I’ll probably go through tomorrow it’s probably worth a JLPT 0 since it’s barely covering the centre’s 初級 (’Elementary’) level. Shall be progressing to 中級 (Intermediate) next week, which I expect will put me through much worse… Wish this panda luck :P
