The dullest post on Otome Road/Akihabara ever

This post is part Otome Road, part Akihabara, but mostly *yawns*.
So in my last post I left off with how I got to Otome Road too late to actually do anything of worth there besides taking night photos. So I spent the night in yet another dodgy internet cafe nearby and woke up the next morning… to take early morning photos since it was obviously too early for any of the shops to be open (it was about 7?).
Not much to show really. I just wanted to compare late night Otome Road with early morning Otome Road, but it turns out that there isn’t actually anything different besides the obvious difference in lighting (Ooo wow, brilliant observation Sherlock…). And like Ruki mentioned in my last post, they could’ve easily called the place ‘K-Road’ since there was at least 4 seperate branches (specializing in different sorts of books) of K-Books n the same street as advertised by this map.
But where are all the people??
Rushing to work apparently.
Deciding that I’d just bore myself silly just hanging about the same street waiting for shops to open, I decided to board the train to head off to Akihabara…
*hears angels voices singing*
…where most of the shops were in various states of still not open/opening and I’d have to wait around anyways. At least here was more than one street to look about.
Picture spam time!
Ooo… Geass…
Ooo… Allison & Lillia…
Ooo… Galaxy Angel Rune What lousy spinoff to GA that doesn’t exist?
Ooo… *steals* (See, it was that early when stores were receiving stock shipments)
Besides the people milling about the stores that were open (though they were mostly people gawking at a Strike Witches CM…), there was a rather long line of people waiting outside of DonkeyHote (how do I romanize ドンキホーテ?) for who knows what reason…
Ooo… Minorin Toranoana opening.
Ooo… HELL YEA MOVIES TO WATCH OUT FOR
And… that’s about it. Yea, all the way to Otaku wonderland, and all I got were these lousy pictures… (And a Detroit Metal City phonestrap). Told you this was going to be a dull post..
Okay, there’s obviously more to Akihabara and Otome Road than my hasty early morning visit allowed me to see… So I temporarily took leave to explore some other distinctive Tokyo sights before working my way back here once the place gets more alive than your usual Friday morning… But that be another post
(really, I’m not milking this trip to gain number of posts to fill in my anime-blogging drought at all…)

What on earth were you doing that early in the morning? But LOL… considering all the shows (live action and anime) that I’ve seen set in Akiba, this is the most empty I’ve seen it. But oh well… you got there and I’m stuck in my house anticipating a typhoon.

A DMC phone strap? picture?! btw, when’s the Gurren Lagann movie out?
September 22, 2008 @ 1:12 am
You can’t spell “phone strap” without R+A+P+E!
September 22, 2008 @ 9:15 am
Wow. I didn’t know you could sleep in internet cafes o__O

“This post is part Otome Road, part Akihabara, but mostly *yawns*.”
so… no fujoshi or yaoi fangirls around?…

@biankita: I only paid to spend 7 hours in the internet cafe, so I had to get my sleepy butt out of there whether I wanted to or not (or pay more money. Maybe I should have just sat in a train and slept for another hour…)
@Hoshi: It’s showing in cinemas currently. I might go watch it on the first of next month if it’s still showing (since tickets are cheaper then
)
@Baka-Raptor: I’m using it as a “camera strap” now. Wait, you can’t spell that without those letters either XD
@shirokyuu: You can here XD ( I certainly wasn’t the only one judging from the snoring…)
@EvilDevil: They probably had better things to do at that time of day, like, uh, sleep.

You sound almost homeless, issa. xP
I probably would have found somewhere to sit and wait until stores opened, like at a cafe, but then again the only reason I’d ever go to Akiba would be for the express purpose of purchasing anime goods.

Wow you sure know how to survive in the most efficient way. I really have never heard of sleeping on internet cafes XD I wonder how does it feels like. …And also like biankita, I’m also stuck in my house anticipating a typhoon…

I think the romanization is most likely “Don Quixote.” As in the famous crackpot Spanish knight in romance.

Wow I’ve never been to Akihabara when you could walk teh streets without getting trampled -__-; (or have these crazy white tourists walk up to you and try to talk to you in Japanese.. I like to let them talk and then I’d reply in my best British accent…)
kanzeon, biankita .. throw the typhoon my way.. so I don’t have to go to work.. (if things go as planned it should hit here late tuesday/early wednesday \o/)

I wish I could have gone with my mother to Japan when she went, but she was only there a day coming back from Russia. What she did get me was both useful and eyebrow raising. My Mum has good taste in useful gadgets (a Skype headset that works in Australia) and incredibly poor knowledge of what some samurai manga contains (there’s a not too raunchy but gentle and cute sex scene in the volume she got me, and she didn’t know it was in there. It’s uncensored samurai manga, what can you do?)
Hope you’re having fun in Japan, I know I would be if I was on holidays. Oh well, the Anime shop up the road is my nearest local Otaku haven, but mostly trendy hipsters go there to get Death Note merch.

I’m so jealous that you’ll be able to see those movies, even if you won’t understand half of what’s being said ^_^.

On the contrary, I find this post very interesting. (:
It’s so awesome to see buildings with anime posters or whole buildings with anime wall papers. Imagine a building with Hello Kitty wall paper overlooking the other shorter buildings. So coooool! Ah…we don’t even have posters on our buildings in Singapore.

Should have went on a Saturday, there’s this free tour you can sign up for in front of the Radio Kaikan that takes you around Akiba, not to mention a goodie bag!
September 28, 2008 @ 7:44 pm
The things to buy are endless
September 30, 2008 @ 8:42 pm
It’s best to go to Akiba in Sundays, but it’s just crowdy in some shops that I like.

ohgahd. i just wanna go there badly. Y_Y

Not sure if this still matters, but “ドンキホーテ”means “Don Quijote,” a chain of supermarkets in Japan and Hawai’i similar to America’s K-Mart and Safeway (put together), but only a whole lot more. It’s on Wikipedia if you’re interested.
